Legacy of activism

The movement for reproductive rights

Dana Cloud, Megan Lessard, and Lluvia ("Rayito") del Rayo Rocha Perez speak on the legacy and ongoing fight for reproductive rights in North America.

On September 26, Tempest hosted an important Facebook Live event on the history and legacy of reproductive rights activism in North America. The event featured abortion rights activists whose incredible work has pressured governments for change and challenged the right-wing movements which consistently threaten our fundamental rights to bodily autonomy. These activists explained the importance of the mass movement and its central role in the expansion of reproductive freedom, its weakening in the U.S. over the last decades, and why it is urgent to participate in ongoing demonstrations and organizing.

Featuring
Lluvia (“Rayito”) del Rayo Rocha Perez, activist for abortion rights in Mexico, where the federal court recently decriminalized abortion under pressure from activists;
Megan Lessard, organizer with New York City for Abortion Rights (NYC-FAR);
Dana Cloud, Tempest member and longtime abortion rights activist, speaking on the situation in Texas.
