The event was called by Planned Parenthood. The first speakers were Vermont Democratic Party Congressman, Peter Welch, and\u00a0 Lt. Governor, Molly Gray, both remarking on the breathtaking and shocking nature of the Supreme Court\u2019s draft decision, and praising the Democratic opposition. Planned Parenthood\u2019s action plan is campaigning to pass the popular <a href=\"https:\/\/vtdigger.org\/2022\/02\/08\/vermont-house-approves-prop-5-sending-reproductive-rights-question-to-voters\/\">Vermont Reproductive Liberty Act <\/a>constitutional amendment.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"pullquote\">[The rally]\u00a0 expressed a general sense of past failed strategies\u2014and a need for something more militant, more angry\u2026<\/aside>\n<p>What was different at this rally was the open-mic\u2014where multiple speakers (largely young women and gender nonconforming folks, mirroring the crowd) took a left turn\u2014anger at the Democrats for failing on abortion rights, frustration at the backwards trajectory of rights, making links to the broad scope of the crisis\u2014attacks on trans people, global heating, gay marriage, etc. This expressed a general sense of past failed strategies\u2014and a need for something more militant, more angry\u2014bringing our army to the fight to stop the Supreme Court and demand our rights.
