As part of the past week of events that took place throughout the country during Trans Awareness Week and the observance of Transgender Day of Remembrance on November 20, the Vermont Tempest chapter hosted an event, “Resisting Transphobia,” that took place in the backdrop of the local tragic death earlier this month of Middlebury College student and trans activist Lia Smith.

Seattle educator, author, and socialist Jesse Hagopian recently spoke at a National Teach-In on Loyalty Oaths organized by the American Association of University Professors, which notes that President Trump’s so-called Compact with universities “violates the First Amendment by forcing universities to surrender their right of free speech and academic freedom in exchange for federal funds.”
